My advice would be to avoid a piece of poop like the Featherweight altogether and get a real full-sized sewing machine like the Singer 15-91 or the 201, which are made from cast iron instead of soft cast aluminum. If you select one of these two models you will have a machine that will last a lifetime and not cost you a fortune and not be a tiny piece of crap with overheating motors and non-dropping feed-dogs!
